Our Channel Surfing TV picks for the end of August include some heavyweight franchises. Prepare for a new mystery and podcast in the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building. Tensions rise in Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two. Then, another protector is sent back in time to save a scientist from an assassin in Terminator Zero

Going Hollywood

When we last left Only Murders in the Building, stunt double, Sazz Pataki is shot with her fate still unknown. Now our team of true crime podcasters need to get to the bottom of what happened.

Meanwhile, their success has drawn the interest of Hollywood with producers wanting to turn their story into a film. Can Charles, Oliver, and Mabel make it four for four in Arconia mysteries and solve the case, or will the distraction of the movie hinder them.

Only Murders in the Building season four premieres Tuesday, August 27, on Hulu.

The Remaining Rings

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power explores how the influential rings of Middle-earth came to be. At the end of season one, we witness the creation of the Three Ring of the Elves by the smith, Celebrimbor. However, we know there are more than those three rings.

Season two features the other Rings of Power, and how Sauron deceived and manipulated many folks to have them created. In addition, the new season will also cover the definitive battle during the Second Age of Middle-earth, the Siege of Eregion.

The first three episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two drop Thursday, August 29, on Prime Video.

A Skynet Rival

The United States wasn’t the only country developing an AI that would eventually lead to the downfall of mankind. Japan had their own version too, and it would eventually compete with Skynet, the infamous AI from Terminator 2: Judgement Day

In Terminator Zero, an anime series from the famed Production I.G. Animation Studio, a developer named Malcom Lee finds himself and his family in the cross-hairs of a robot assassin. Luckily for them, a mysterious soldier travels back in time to protect them from this deadly threat.

Stream the entire first season of Terminator Zero beginning Thursday, August 29, on Netflix.
