A Hollywood Reporter exclusive reveals that Disney will debut its new series, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, on Star Wars Watch Party Island in Fortnite on May 2, 2025. The game’s upcoming chapter set in the Star Wars universe will stream the show two days before its release on Disney+. Gamers can also battle each other during the episode, creating a fittingly chaotic setting for the premiere.
A historical event for Disney and Fortnite
Disney executives are just as excited as fans are for the Galactic Battle crossover. Executive Vice President of Disney Games & Digital, Sean Shoptaw, told the Hollywood Reporter, “For the first time, Disney+ is premiering a show inside a game, launching alongside our largest Star Wars collaboration with Fortnite to date – giving fans and players an exciting first look at the kinds of experiences they can expect as we shape a new future together,”
Epic Games’ President, Adam Sussman, also expressed his excitement to the Hollywood Reporter. He enthusiastically stated, “We are reimagining what’s possible with immersive storytelling in Fortnite with one of the world’s most beloved franchises – stay tuned for a lot more to come.”
Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld is an animated series that explores the darker parts of the Star Wars galaxy. The anthology comes from Dave Filoni, the producer of Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, Skeleton Crew and many more Star Wars projects.
Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld debuts May 2, 2025, on Fortnite’s Galactic Battle.
