Jessica Jones returns in Marvel’s darkest, bloodiest ‘Alias’ story yet

‘ALIAS: RED BAND’ a new five-issue RED BAND series by Sam Humphries and Geraldo Borges, arrives in March.

Back in 2001, Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos reshaped the Marvel Universe with Alias, a hard-edged noir series that introduced Jessica Jones, a private investigator whose impact would define Marvel storytelling throughout the 2000s. The series went on to become one of Bendis’ most celebrated Marvel works, helped launch Jessica into pop culture through her Netflix series, and now arrives as her MCU return approaches in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

To mark 25 years of Alias, Marvel Comics announced today (via Polygon) ALIAS: RED BAND, a new five-issue limited series launching this March. The anniversary project is written by Sam Humphries (New Avengers) with art by Geraldo Borges (Thunderbolts), and features the return of David Mack, whose painted, mural-style covers defined the look of the original series. While Alias originally ran under Marvel’s MAX imprint, the new series will be released as a polybagged RED BAND title, signaling mature content.

Humphries and Borges step into familiar territory with a new noir-infused mystery that blends street-level superhero drama with crime fiction. The story follows Jessica Jones as she investigates a string of brutal murders, forcing her into an uneasy alliance with Typhoid Mary, while navigating life under public scrutiny as the wife of Luke Cage, now Mayor of New York City. The series also sets the groundwork for Jessica and Luke to play a major role in Marvel’s wider plans later in 2026.

A series of grisly murders in Hell’s Kitchen pulls Jessica Jones into a case darker than anything she’s faced before. With political pressure mounting and danger closing in, she must decide how far she’s willing to go to uncover the truth.

“No one does it like Jessica Jones. She’s sharp, bitterly funny, and tenacious as hell. Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos snapped when they created her, a totally singular character with a unique POV on the superhero game,” Humphries told Polyon. “I’m excited to push the limits of the kind of cases Jessica Jones can investigate, and how far she’ll go to solve them.”

Marvel has also unveiled David Mack’s main cover, along with variant covers by Elena Casagrande and Jeehyung Lee, with Lee’s artwork also available as a virgin variant. ALIAS: RED BAND #1 is available to preorder now at local comic shops. For more details, visit Marvel.com.
