Welcome to Fantastic Five, where we look back at the best comics of the week! This week was a big one for Marvel, as MoonstarAmazing Spider-Man, and All-New Spider-Gwen all hit the top five. Let’s get to the books!

Best comics of the week: March 4, 2026

#5: Lands Unknown: The Skinless Man #1

‘Lands Unknown: The Skinless Man’ #1 is a confident and imaginative start

Lands Unknown: The Skinless Man #1 feels like a story pulled from some half-remembered medieval manuscript and brought to life with startling clarity. Stenbeck honors the mythic sensibilities associated with this corner of comics while forging something distinctly his own, leaning into realism in character design and culture while letting the supernatural elements feel raw and uncanny. The fireside tale structure gives the book a timeless cadence, and once the skinless man’s quest begins, the issue builds toward an ending that is both brutal and poetic. A few early narrative gaps may momentarily disorient readers, but by the final page, the spell is firmly cast. This is folklore rendered with confidence, texture, and just enough menace to linger.

#4: All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider #8

‘All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider’ #8 delivers the best Spider-Gwen story in years

It’s too bad this volume of Spider-Gwen is ending, especially now that it seems like the creative team has real chemistry together as they craft one of the more memorable and compelling Spider-Gwen stories I can remember reading. The mystery is rich, the characters are frayed and spiraling, and pages couldn’t be flipped fast enough as we race towards the end of this story and this chapter of Spider-Gwen at large.

#3: Radiant Black #40

‘Radiant Black’ #40 doesn’t pull any punches

Radiant Black #40 not only feels strangely in step with the current world, but it also delivers visuals and a story that exceeds most blockbuster films. Five years later, this comic is getting even better and continues to hold the top spot on my pull list.

#2: Amazing Spider-Man #23

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ #23 blends action and Parker drama perfectly

Amazing Spider-Man #23 keeps Death Spiral moving with confidence, blending character-driven moments with high-impact action. Joe Kelly leans into Peter’s disorientation in a city that changed while he was gone, grounding the crossover in emotional fallout rather than spectacle alone. The Aunt May exchange lands with classic awkward Parker energy, while the Venom confrontation injects both humor and genuine shock. McGuinness brings dynamic layouts and expressive character work that elevate every beat, from rooftop chaos to quiet living room tension. The mystery around Torment continues to simmer, even if some readers may think they have it figured out. With strong momentum and meaningful character movement, this chapter feels like a crucial step forward in the larger arc.

#1: Moonstar #1

‘Moonstar’ #1 finally gives a fan-favorite mutant the spotlight

Moonstar #1 is both a much-needed spotlight for Dani Moonstar and the kind of story only she could lead. It also starts to cement Ashley Allen as one of the top X-Men writers, and I can’t wait to see which one of the mighty mutants she tackles next.
