Papercutz, the kids’ comics imprint of Mad Cave Studios, has announced NOTHING CAN STOP… THE APE!, a 120-page middle-grade graphic novel packed with the colorful chaos and high-energy spirit of classic Saturday morning cartoons. The book is written by Tom Sniegoski (The Fallen Series) and Jeannine Acheson (The Complete Alice in Wonderland), with artwork by Craig Rousseau (Young Hellboy).
The story follows twelve-year-old Maxwell Morgan, who will go to extraordinary lengths to save his mother after she becomes possessed by the spirit of Thuuna, an angry primordial goddess. Maxwell’s desperate mission leads him to free the goddess’s immortal enemy from a magical prison. With the help of his loyal French bulldog and four primitive cave people gifted with elemental powers, Maxwell must convince the newly released gorilla god of chaos, ghraagg’endah, to join forces with them. Together they face the threat of Thuuna’s destructive plans while trying to free Maxwell’s mother from the goddess’s grip.
Inspired by the animated adventures of the late 1960s Hanna-Barbera era, Nothing Can Stop… The Ape! promises a fast-paced all-ages adventure filled with humor, action, and imaginative spectacle.
Tom Sniegoski shared how long the project has been developing: “Nothing Can Stop… The Ape! has been stomping around inside my noggin for quite some time—probably at least twenty-five years—but I could never find the proper tone; it was just too dark. It took me teaming up with the amazing Jeannine S. Acheson to finally find what I’d been searching for the whole time. Together we figured out what the concept needed, and along with Craig Rousseau, we found the missing ingredient—FUN!”
“Working on this book has been a dream come true!” added Co-Writer, Jeannine Acheson, “When Tom asked me to work on this concept that he’d had for such a long time, I couldn’t resist.
