Ronda Rousey reports for training at WWE Performance Center

The Observer suggests she could be in the ring as soon as WrestleMania 34.

It has been reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer newsletter that former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has evidently reported to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida to begin training a potential match in the WWE. Rousey will allegedly be joined by her fellow members of the MMA horsewomen Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. The fourth horsewoman, Shayna Baszler, was signed to a WWE developmental contract following her runner-up performance in the company’s Mae Young Classic tournament held earlier this year.

It is unclear when and where Baszler will make her WWE debut.

Meltzer speculates that the company is planning to build to an inevitable confrontation between her team of MMA horsewomen and the wrestling organization’s own collection of performers who claim the same moniker. The company had teased a tiff between the two squads in a backstage segment that aired during the Mae Young Classic, but has yet to develop the storyline further.

The two teams fueled the speculation in a confrontation at the Mae Young Classic.

Common conception had thought the match between the two groups could happen at November’s Survivor Series pay-per view, though the Observer believes the bout may have been changed to a solo bout between Rousey and Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 in April 2018.

A longtime wrestling fan who drew her nickname (“Rowdy”) from WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper, Rousey made her first appearance for the WWE at WrestleMania 31, in an in-ring segment with the Rock in which she performed judo moves on both Stephanie McMahon and her husband, Triple H.
