Deadpool 2 hit theaters yesterday and is already poised to be just as record-shattering and box office dominant as the first. Co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool) took to Reddit today to answer questions from fans and provided interesting information regarding deleted gags, the after credits scene everyone’s talking about and more.

1. Deleted jokes

Thanks to Uproxx, we already know of a few scenes that were too risque for even Deadpool 2‘s standards, which include a baby Hitler sequence and one involving none other than Chris Evans/Captain America reprising his role as Human Torch. Another scene that didn’t make the final cut?

“One thing we really wanted to see (and actually shot!) was a Deadpool suicide montage, where DP is trying to kill himself over and over in increasingly violent ways (drinking Drano, jumping into a polar bear enclosure), etc.” the writers said. “You should be able to see it on the DVD!”

2. The mid-credits scene

The after-credits scene involves Deadpool appropriating Cable’s body-sliding time travel device thanks to some tinkering from Negasonic and Yukio and going back in time to fix some huge mistakes made during the movie, including preventing Peter’s death, saving Vanessa and even going back to X-Men Origins: Wolverine to kill the mouth sewn shut/Barakapool/Weapon XI version of himself.

But was that scene canon or just a clever way to make what some are calling “the best superhero post-credits sequence ever made”?

“Yes, the after credit scene is CANON!” the creators said. “Don’t expect that device to stick around beyond this movie, though!”

3. How much input does Ryan Reynolds have in the screenwriting process?

Ryan Reynolds embodies/has become synonymous with the character of Deadpool just as much as RDJ as Iron Man (no small feat) and that includes the marketing and narrative input process. According to the Reese and Wernick: “[Reynolds] is brilliant. Better than us at everything. Elevates. As for the process, we break story together. Then divvy up scenes. Trade them back and forth. Rewrite each other. Sometime we are in the same room. Sometimes in the same bed. At least in our dreams.”
