Trailer debuts: ‘The Nun’ and ‘Dumbo’

First trailers have dropped for Conjuring prequel The Nun and Tim Burton’s reimagining of Dumbo.

It’s a very exciting day for movie fans as two long-awaited trailers have finally dropped! What a pair, too. I mean, what goes together better than flying elephants and creepy demon nuns? You would think the answer would be “literally anything”, but with Tim Burton’s unique take on Dumbo, it’s trailer makes a surprisingly consistent double-feature with that of The Nun.

You can watch both trailers below!

The Nun

Vatican officials send a priest and a novitiate to investigate the suicide of a young nun in Romania. They soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they encounter a demonic force that takes the shape of a nun.

If you’re a fan of The Conjuring and it’s cinematic universe (man, that sounds weird to say) you have likely been anticipating the prequel/spin-off film following the deeply freaky nun demon that appeared in The Conjuring 2. This is definitely a teaser trailer and doesn’t show us very much, but does establish a pretty effective tone and has a look reminiscent of classic horror films of the 80’s.

The film stars Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), is written by Gary Dauberman (last year’s fantastic It remake) and is directed by Corin Hardy.

Dumbo

Holt was once a circus star, but he went off to war and when he returned it had terribly altered him. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) hires him to take care of Dumbo, a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the struggling circus troupe. But when Holt’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, silver-tongued entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), and aerial artist Colette Marchant (Eva Green) swoop in to make the little elephant a star.

Tim Burton brings a unique eeriness to the trailer for Dumbo that I was not expecting. The film looks like a far cry from the animated original, a film which I am admittedly not very attached to, so this new take is very welcome for me. I wasn’t crazy about Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland, but this trailer is giving me Big Fish vibes and that is his best film to date, in my opinion. I am definitely looking forward to this one.

Dumbo stars Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Colin Farrell and Danny Devito. The film is written by Ehren Kruger (The Ring) and is directed by Tim Burton.

What do you think about the first trailers for The Nun and Dumbo? If a demon nun and a flying elephant got into a fight, which one would come out alive? Let us know down below, and check back to AiPT! for all of the latest movie trailers.
