First Look: DC Comics gets into the Shazam! spirit with press gift box

Check out the ‘Shazam!’ gift DC Comics is giving out to press this week.

DC Comics is at it again with a specialized gift for editors and reviewers of the press. Arriving today at my doorstep, DC Comics has delivered a Shazam box with all sorts of goodies. Similar to the Doomsday Clock box, this box contains Shazam #1 by Geoff Johns and Dale Eaglesham which is out this week, the Shazam! trade paperback by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, and a pretty nifty Shazam beanie.

The box art is from the previous Shazam! series with art by Gary Frank featuring Billy Batson standing before the magical wizard Shazam at the Rock of Eternity. On the bottom edge of the box, there are words that read, “You must say it with purpose. With belief. With good intentions.”

A fun addition to this box includes a Shazam! candy bar,

or wait, is that a portable charger?

It’s named Power Bar 2500 which is a “Portable Charger with 2500mAH battery” and it comes with 1 “Micro USB charging cable”. It’s a cute addition to the box since it carries forward the theme of Billy being a boy who likes candy but also charges up.

It may not turn me into a superhero, but it’ll at least keep my portable devices charged up.

There’s a bit of a surprise within this surprise box and it comes in the form of a photograph tucked inside the hat.

No, not the kitten, the picture made to look like an old photograph with art by Gary Frank.

What a nifty surprise from DC Comics which will undoubtedly get many even more excited for this upcoming comic series.

You can preorder Shazam! #1 today.
