Ian Ziering cast as Blue Devil in DC Universe’s ‘Swamp Thing’

Pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.

According to Deadline, Ian Ziering has been cast as Blue Devil in the upcoming Swamp Thing series. Ziering played Steve Sanders on Beverly Hills 90210.

Ziering will recur as Daniel Cassidy/Blue Devil and the character’s described as “stuntman turned movie star” and “became semi-famous after playing the demonic Blue Devil.” However, “eight years later, Cassidy finds himself living out his days in frustration, pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.”

Interestingly, in the comics, Daniel didn’t start out as a supernatural being, but was originally a movie star playing the Blue Devil in films. As Deadline says, an actual demon mistakes Cassidy for one and in the attack that follows, the Blue Devil costume becomes a part of him, embuing him with uncanny new abilities.

Swamp Thing is expected to debut around August 2019 on DC Universe.
