Wrestling legend Harley Race passes away at 76

The man who influenced a generation lost his battle with lung cancer today.

Pro wrestling legend Harley Race has passed away at the age of 76 after battling lung cancer. Family friend Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes announced the wrestler’s passing on Twitter.

The official Harley Race Twitter account confirmed the unfortunate news about 20 minutes later.

Race was an eight time NWA World Champion, and is a member of the WWE, NWA, Professional Wrestling, and Wrestling Observer Halls of Fame, one of only six men to do so. He has influenced countless wrestlers from following generations, notably Triple H.

Race competed in nearly every major promotion that existed in his era, including the AWA, NWA, WWF and WCW.

Rest in peace, Harley Race. You will he missed.
