‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’ director Brian Taylor confirms film did not use AI

Hellboy fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Earlier today, fans were aghast to learn AI may have been used in the upcoming film Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Its director, Brian Taylor, has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to assuage fans that AI was not used at all.

Taylor Tweeted:

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

to be clear: there is exactly *ZERO* AI used on hellboy: the crooked man. both characters – hellboy and the crooked man – were created and shot 100% gloriously practical, as the movie gods intended, with no cgi enhancement… and look AMAZING.

He went on in another Tweet, “he was misquoted, my man. the comment was referring to a different film, THE OFFERING. rest assured there is zero AI used on HBTCM and our gloriously practical hellboy looks phenomenal. probably the article was written by AI…”

“The Crooked Man” is a Hellboy story written by Mignola and illustrated by Richard Corben. According to him, it’s his favorite Hellboy story.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is due out in cinemas in November 2024.
