Movies to look forward to in September

The movies we are looking forward to most to start the fall.

Summer is over and the movie dead months are upon us. There is certainly slim pickings this month, but there are a some interesting movies releasing. From a dancing clown to a grinding Jennifer Lopez, September looks to be an eclectic month. Here are the movies we are looking forward to in September.

September 2nd

Murder in the Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story (Limited)

Quite the name for a movie about early 1980s thrash metal, but it is certainly attention grabbing. This documentary features interviews with members of Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer. A look at the birth of one of the most memorable genres of all time is a must for music fans and headbangers.

September 5th

IT: Chapter II (Nationwide)

Arguably the biggest release of the month, this Stephen King adaptation ends the story of the iconic Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The most recent trailer looks to incorporate much from the source material and the movie looks to be scary fun.

September 13th

The Goldfinch (Nationwide)

Based on the book of the same name, the story is about a young boy whose life is changed after his mother is killed in a bombing. A coming of age story set in the world of art may be a hard sell. Nicole Kidman and Sarah Paulson round out an impressive cast.

Hustlers (Nationwide)

Is it fair to say J. Lo is experiencing a career renaissance? She started the 2000s as one of the biggest names in Hollywood. She seemed to drop off but never truly escaped the public consciousness. This movie is about a group of strippers who have found a new way to make money.

September 20th

Ad Astra (Nationwide)

Brad Pitt stars in this science fiction adventure as Roy McBride. Roy is an astronaut who is looking for his father. The cast also includes Liv Tyler and Donal Sutherland.

Downton Abbey (Nationwide)

Downton Abbey is one of the most critically acclaimed shows in television history. It also garnered a strong following making a movie adaptation inevitable. The movie deals with how a royal visit affects everyone at the estate.

Rambo: Last Blood (Nationwide)

Don’t let the title fool you. Star Slyvester Stallone has already stated if this film does well at the box office, he is willing to make more. Last Blood sees the titular hero head into Mexico to save a kidnapped girl.
