Horror icon Sid Haig, actor from ‘House of 1000 Corpses’ has died at age 80

It is with great sadness to learn that legendary actor Sid Haig has passed away at the age of 80. Haig appeared in numerous television shows and movies including Fantasy Island and Jackie Brown and is best known for playing the iconic Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s horror trilogy House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, and most recently his last on-screen performance in 3 From Hell.

Susan L. Olbert, Haig’s wife shared the news of his death on Instagram this morning.

She wrote, “On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next. He has returned to the Universe, a shining star in her heavens. He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be. He adored his family, his friends and his fans. This came as a shock to all of us.”\

On a personal note, I have assisted Sid over the years while volunteering for the incredible charity Scares That Care. I have never encountered a more caring individual that was wrapped up in the Hollywood scene. He was humble, loved his fans, and I will genuinely miss him. Tears don’t come from my eyes often, but hearing this news crushed me. RIP Sid Haig.
