AIPT will continue some of its planned coverage of SXSW. We have been in contact with creators and their representatives in order to continue to give films coverage. We will respect all embargoes and work to give these films and our readers the coverage we had planned.
Scrappy Pictures, in collaboration with Sand and Snow films and Dolce Vita Films, introduce A Period Piece. A Period Piece is a short film written and directed by Shuchi Talati that tells the story of Gheeta and Vehd, two young lovers who get together for an afternoon of sex. Sex can be pretty awkward, especially when one person is on their period and the other keeps bringing up his wife.
Talati conveys an entire history between this couple with very few words. Sonal Aggarwal, who plays Geetha and Nardeep Khurmi, who plays Vehd give exceptional performances. They both illustrate the passion of their desires while showing the barriers between them. The lighting and camera work show the intimacy and drudgery of all that has passed between them in one afternoon.
A Period Piece reflects the more primal side of attraction and shows that some things are better left for another time.
