SXSW (At Home): ‘Biters’ Review

Light body horror and a strong performance shine a spotlight on Biters.

AIPT will continue some of its planned coverage of SXSW. We have been in contact with creators and their representatives in order to continue to give films coverage. We will respect all embargoes and work to give these films and our readers the coverage we had planned.

Biters is a SXSW Texas short that is about a young surfer who is attacked by tiny fishlike creatures in the ocean. It is disturbing and creepy and will make you want to cover your ears! Eerie and intriguing, Biters will hold your attention and keep you waiting for the next strange occurrence. Light body horror and a strong performance shine a spotlight on Biters

The young surfer, played by Claire Cetera, drives through a coastal setting that has been ravaged by a hurricane. A traffic sign blinks the words Go Home and the town is nearly isolated. The tone is set for the film.

Cetera gives a great performance as the main character in the film. After she is attacked in the ocean, she must deal with the results of it which are pretty gross. The film also makes an interesting commentary on victims and the way they are treated.

Scary and disgusting, Biters illustrates the horrific and vengeful aspects of nature.
