Forrest and Dave are joined by guest comic book writer Frank Gogol who has new series No Heroine coming out this June. We also discuss the industry, some tips at breaking in, and more. We also begin our very first book club as we wait for comic books to get back to regularly scheduled release. In our very first, we break down Ryan Stegman and Donny Cates’ Venom run discussing the story so far, what works, what doesn’t, favorite moments, and where we think it’s going.
Before we get to all that we break down the news. This week’s top news includes Diamond Comics Distributors is withholding scheduled payments to vendors, Marvel pauses work and publishing on 1/3rd of May and June releases, DC donates $250,000 to retailer charity, exploring “multi-distributor” deal, and Marvel to halt the digital release of new comics…for now. Also in the news, BOOM! Studios halt physical and digital single issues but will release trades, the fiasco of publishers working out a deal with ComicHub but that fell apart, Bad Idea has postponed their May 6 launch, and Lion Forge Labs shutters.
In the Venom book club portion of the show, we talk about our favorite art from the series so far. Check it out below!
