Kickstarter Alert: Todd McFarlane remasters original Spawn action figure and comic

…and it’s already fully funded!

Today, acclaimed comic and toy creator Toy McFarlane launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for an updated version of his original Spawn action figure from 1995.

Based on the popular Image comic figure that made its debut in 1992, this version of the figure will stand two inches taller than the original figure. It will also feature double the articulation along with a folding cape, enhanced detailing, a new weapon and a base.

The figure comes packaged in an resealable slipcover (for you psychopaths who keep their toys in the box) along with a reprint of Spawn #1 featuring a new cover drawn by Todd McFarlane. You’ll also have the the option of adding a McFarlane-autographed nameplate to your order that includes a replica of the weapon Spawn wielded in the first issue.

As if all that weren’t enough, the campaign also offers multiple versions of the figure/character to chose from:

Classic Spawn

  • $40 for the figure and a copy of Spawn #1 with an updated cover of the issue that came with the original 1995 figure.
  • $80 will get you the figure/comic along with the nameplate/weapon.

The Kickstarter has already more than quadrupled its $100,000 goal (and still has 29 days left to go), so maybe we’ll get some cool stretch goals down the road.

Either way, this is a great bit of ’90s toy nostalgia that has been upgraded into a fantastic modern action figure. If you’re still looking for a Spawn figure to adorn your toy shelf, then head over to the campaign’s Kickstater page get your pledge in today!
