Next years will mark the five hundred year anniversary of the trek Hernan Cortes made through Mexico. His journey led to the fall of the Aztec Empire and the birth of a country. Director Rodrigo Reyes uses an interesting technique to comment on the current state of that country. By doing so, he also looks at the history of Mexico. 499 contains a mix of real life interviews and a fictional story arc in one of the most unique films to be released in this strange year.
