This weekend, San Diego Comic-Con used its official Twitter account to announce #ComicConAtHome, a virtual event to help fill the void left by San Diego Comic-Con 2020 being canceled due to COVID-19.

- Free parking
- Comfy chairs
- Personalized Snacks
- No lines (!)
- Pets welcome
- Badges for all
- A front row seat
Maybe it’s a good thing San Diego Comic-Con goes this route, for now
As disappointed as I am to see this event canceled for the first time in its 50-year history (along with lots of other comic-cons around the country) it’s good to know that we’ll at least get a virtual version of it. Also, as someone who has never been quick enough to secure an official badge for San Diego Comic-Con, this won’t be terribly different from the way I’ve personally had to experience the convention, anyway.
It will be interesting to see what type of events SDCC sets up for #ComicConAtHome and how they present them. Panels can obviously be done via Skype or Google Hangout calls, but virtual toy and booth displays will have to look very different or not happen at all.
We’ll keep you updated when the schedule of events is released.
