‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2: Katee Sackhoff to play Bo-Katan

The voice of the Mandalorian warrior will now portray her in live action.

In an exclusive report today from Peter Sciretta of Slash Film, it was revealed that Katee Sackhoff will portray Bo-Katan Kryze in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

As most of you reading this article are well aware, Sackhoff previously voiced the animated version of Bo-Katan for both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Last time we saw her, she was in possession of the Darksaber and had rallied most of Mandalore behind her as their leader.

The next time we saw the Darksaber, however, Moff Gideon was using it to cut out of his downed TIE fighter in final shot from The Mandalorian‘s first season finale. One could cautiously assume that he and Bo-Katan crossed paths at some point during the Great Purge of Mandalore for him to be in possession of the weapon.

Whether that’s how things went down or not, Katee Sackoff is an absolutely perfect casting choice for the role. In addition to her extensive experiencing voicing the character, she’s a fantastic actress with a history of portraying badass warriors and cutthroat villains. Some of Sackhoff’s most famous roles include:

Also, she’s just a dye job and pair of green contacts away from looking as close to a real-life version of Bo-Katan as you could ask for.

It’s unknown if The Mandalorian will have Bo-Katan play an integral role in the second season’s narrative or only make a one-episode appearance. For what it’s worth, my money is on her appearing in a flashback that shows how Giddeon got the Darksaber from her.

Whatever the case, news of Katee Sackhoff joining the series continues the recent trend of exciting casting news for The Mandalorian‘s second season. Just in the last two months we’ve had:

Season One of The Mandalorian may have a lot to live up to, but it’s hard to temper expectations with so much great talent being added to the series.
