Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss’s 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank has had its movie rights acquired by Picturestart, a media company founded by former Lionsgate co-president Erik Feig, according to a Deadline report. The report notes that it was a “competitive bidding situation”.
Screenwriter Matthew Robinson, who wrote the screenplay for Dora and the Lost City of Gold, will write the adaptation. Matt Pizzolo of Black Mask Studios will produce alongside Rosenberg and Boss.
Black Mask Studios describes 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank as:
The darkly comedic story of four burgeoning child criminals and their elaborate plans. When a group of bumbling criminals show up in her father’s life looking to pull one last job, young Paige has two choices — let her father get caught up in their criminal hijinks or enlist her three best friends to do the job first. Paige picks the bad one.
The book, released in 2017, became a cult hit and received critical acclaim.
No time frame has been revealed for the movie as of yet.
