Lance Archer has COVID-19; Jon Moxley will defend AEW Championship tonight

‘The Murderhawk Monster’ was set to square off in a six man tag match tonight. Instead, Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship.

AEW wrestler Lance Archer announced on Twitter today that he has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the planned six man tag match of Archer, Brian Cage, and Ricky Starks vs. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Will Hobbs and Darby Allin will not be happening tonight.

“When I returned from our last show, a family member was ill when I got home. I found out later a friend who had taken my family member to the Vet for our Dachshund was COVID positive,” Archer said in his tweet. “While at home, now I’ve also gotten sick tested positive. I feel ok, expect to see me in 2 wks”

Following Archer’s announcement, Jon Moxley took to Twitter to say that he will instead defend the AEW World Championship against a competitor to be determined.

“Change of plans. I’m putting up the title tonight. Live TV babe,” Moxley tweeted.

Before AEW made an official announcement for who Moxley’s opponent will be, Eddie Kingston was already on Twitter making his case, as he was never technically eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale at All Out.

AEW founder Tony Khan seemed to agree, as he tweeted soon after that the match has been made official. Your main event tonight on Dynamite will be AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defending the title against Eddie Kingston.

Get well soon, Lance.
