WWE Survivor Series 2020 preview and predictions

It’s Raw vs. SmackDown in a battle that has absolutely no stakes whatsoever!

Survivor Series 2020 has arrived and we’re fairly certain that WWE almost completely forgot about it. Team SmackDown for both the men’s and women’s division didn’t have full rosters until SmackDown was over last night. If that doesn’t say the company is invested in this pay-per-view and the battle for supremacy between Raw and SmackDown, what possibly can? Regardless of the late additions to SmackDown’s respective teams, we’ve got ourselves a big four pay-per-view to talk about.

Will Drew McIntyre and his newly acquired kilt be able to defeat the Tribal Chief? Does Sami Zayn require the help of Bobby Lashley’s sisters? Can Sasha Banks prove that she can hold on to Championship gold? AIPT’s panel of experts provides you with their predictions for who will walk away with their head held high on Sunday at Survivor Series 2020.

You can watch WWE’s Survivor Series 2020 pay-per-view this Sunday, November 22, at 7 ET/4 PT on the WWE network. Get a head start on the action by checking out the full card and our team of expert’s predictions below. You can stay up-to-date on all the weekly WWE action by listening to our weekly wrestling podcast PTW.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods – Raw Tag Team Champions) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford – SmackDown Tag Team Champions)

WWE Survivor Series 2020 preview and predictions

WWE

Darius: I feel like, if it’s not going to lose them the titles, Woods and Kingston are in the very rare veteran tag team spot for WWE and can definitely use that to put over young talent. Street Profits feel legit in that they’ve been champions for the longest of times, but they also spent a lot of time beating up the thrown-together Garza and Almas. I don’t know how much longer the Profits are going to be champions, but I think a win over The New Day here may help to cement the importance of this lengthy cross-brand reign.
Winners: The Street Profits

Shane: I think I’m going to go with the Street Profits on this one. Like Darius said, The New Day have entered into territory that we rarely see in WWE and that territory is where an established tag team can lose and put over an up-and-coming team. It’ll be a long hard fought match, but I think the Street Profits will pull it out.
Winners: The Street Profits

Jay: Street Profits. Like Shane said which is what Darius said. Street Profits have more to gain here as The New Day has godfather status in the tag team scene and the WWE in general.

Bobby Lashley (United States Champion – Raw) vs. Sami Zayn (Intercontinental Champion – SmackDown)

WWE Survivor Series 2020 preview and predictions

WWE

Darius: I don’t know if you guys are aware, but Bob Lashley is a big man. WAY bigger than Mr. Samuel Zayn. Also, I feel like after the Lashey’s Sisters”promo from a few years back, WWE must have put it into Lashley’s contract that he will always defeat Sami Zayn for the rest of time. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest it, but it just makes sense.
Winner: Bobby Lashley

Shane: I think this is going to be my wildcard pick of the night as far as finishes though. Sami Zayn has had some of the most creative finishes we have seen in WWE in quite some time. His Ladder match victory was brilliant and what he did to Apollo Crews last week was also at least unique. Sami has been beating foes without actually “beating” them. We might also see RETRIBUTION get involved on Sami’s behalf as well. It might be risky, but I’m going with Sami Zayn on this one.
Winner: Sami Zayn

Jay: There’s only one way this thing goes. Lashley’s sisters are going to interrupt the match and seemingly help Lashley win only to turn on him and help Sami Zayn win. This will then lead to a feud between The Hurt Business and Sami Zayn and the Lashley Sisters for 4 months. I mean look at how dominant Zayn and the Lashley Sisters were!
Winner: Bobby Lashley

Team Raw (Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Lana, Lacey Evans, & Peyton Royce) vs. Team SmackDown (Bianca Belair, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Natalya, & Bayley)

WWE Survivor Series 2020 preview and predictions

WWE

Darius: I don’t know if I want Raw to win — I mean, SmackDown’s team isn’t even complete but it already has the EST and the remaining Riott Squad, so there’s both talent and my favor there. However, Team Raw has the story: Lana and Nia as sole survivors. Lana’s going to bumble her way through it, probably getting Shayna eliminated and going through a table early in the match, but I feel like this is the point where we’ll know if Lana’s really being given a good story. They win, and her character grows. She loses, and the past two months have just been the writers going, “Announce table go brrrrr.”
Winner: Team Raw — specifically Nia Jax and Lana

Shane: I just don’t want Raw to win this one. I know Raw has the bigger story line going in, but I think this story line is what might cause them to lose in the long run. I think…I think that Lana is going to cost her team a victory here. I can see her somehow, somehow, putting Nia Jax through a table setting up a table match at TLC. I mean, where else can this go?! And SmackDown also has Bianca Belair on their team which is literally the EST in WWE. I’m looking forward to seeing a dominant performance from Belair here.
Winner: Team Smackdown

Jay: Team Raw. They’ve been building an underdog angle with Lana because she honestly has the most upside on the Raw Women’s division. Jax, Baszler, and Asuka are all established, Lacey Evans is not going to be a thing, they’re still trying to figure out Peyton Royce, Mandy and Dana are Mandy and Dana. So, Raw’s only hope is Lana and I expect this to be her coming out party.
Winner: Lana, somehow.

Team Raw (AJ Styles, Keith Lee, Sheamus, Braun Strowman, & Riddle) vs. Team SmackDown (Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, King Corbin, Seth Rollins, Otis)

WWE Survivor Series 2020 preview and predictions

WWE

Darius: If Raw’s winning the women’s match, fairness says SmackDown would have to win this one, right? Only, I don’t think SmackDown actually cares about Survivor Series, seeing as they only have four men on their team and the show is this weekend. Raw’s team is dysfunctional and lost to Retribution, but at least they have PRACTICE. Whether the blue brand adds Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, (Buddy?) Murphy, Otis, or anyone else, they’ll be scrambling to figure it out, and I think Raw’s got them there.
Winner: Team Raw

Shane: I want Team Raw to win just so I can see AJ Styles celebrate like his own kids’ soccer team had just won the city championship. It has to happen.
Winner: Team Raw

Jay: Team SD didn’t even get a segment on the go-home SD show whereas Raw has had a solid build for their team. Team Raw also has Keith Lee and Riddle – two newer members to the roster they are trying to build. Expect Team Raw to take it.
Winner: Team Raw

Asuka (Raw Women’s Champion) vs. Sasha Banks (SmackDown Women’s Champion)

Survivor Series

WWE

Darius: This will be the best match on the show as long as Bayley doesn’t come out as a ref and help Asuka win to make up for Extreme Rules. I think I could see this going either way, as Asuka and Sasha would both walk away shaking hands and being like, “Sorry for earlier this year” (although I’d love it if they still don’t like each other), but I’m going with Asuka for two reasons: first, while Sasha has all these enemies like real-life besties Bayley and Carmella, no one on Raw seems to care about attacking their Women’s Champion; and second, NXT booking made it so that I can never truly bet against Asuka, no matter how long she’s been on Raw.
Winner: Asuka

Shane: This one is a little hard to predict. I’m kinda bummed that we’re seeing this match again since we have seen so much shenanigans between Sasha and Asuka over the summer, but at the same time, it is Sasha and Asuka we’re talking about here. This could be a show stealer, but I’m so accustomed to tomfoolery between these two that It’s hard to be super invested in this match. In fact, this is the one match that doesn’t seem to have much of a build to it at all. Asuka hasn’t really had much of a storyline in terms of challenges on Raw recently, yet on the other hand, Sasha has been dealing with Bayley and Carmella. I doubt it will be a clean finish, but I am going to go with Asuka in this one.
Winner: Asuka

Jay: Sasha. She’s been on a role and I feel like they want to give The Boss her due. She already lost to Asuka so it makes sense for her to get the win back
Winner: Sasha Banks

Drew McIntyre (WWE Champion – Raw) vs. Roman Reigns w/Paul Heyman (Universal Champion – SmackDown) WWE Survivor Series 2020 preview and predictions

Darius: I’m hyped for this match mostly because I wonder if they’re going to give this a clean ending or not. This match has a similar issue to the Women’s Championship match, as Drew has enemies like Randy Orton and The Fiend whereas Roman is just kind of vibing as the head of his table. According to WWE, Drew’s only been pinned twice in the past year-ish (both times to Orton), so if it was any other champion, I’d go for him. But not only is his opponent in the run of his career, not only is his opponent virtually safe from outside interference, and not only is his opponent fighting for a brand that, according to my predictions, only got one other win on the night. His opponent is Roman Reigns, and The Big Dog/Tribal Chief/Proud Owner of a Yard doesn’t lose.
Winner: Roman Reigns

Shane: I can’t wait to see this match. I just know that Roman and Drew are going to absolutely batter each other from bell to bell and I seriously can’t wait. I just have no idea who I want to win this…my gut is telling me Roman because I can’t see him taking any sort of loss at the moment. But, at the same time, I can’t see Drew eating another loss so soon after becoming WWE Champion again. Is it too much to think that Miz will try cashing in only to eat a pinfall? You know what, let’s go with that. Roman wins after pinning Miz with a failed Money in the Bank Cash-In. Because, reasons.
Winner: Roman Reigns

Jay: This isn’t a dream match. I saw this match live at WrestleMania 35. It will be a great match but I expect Roman to win it via shenanigans to keep Drew looking strong. I like Shane’s MITB cash-in though. That will be more fun than this match we have seen many times in the middle of 2019.
Winner: Roman Reigns
