On the heels of our first look at Kate Bishop in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series, Variety is reporting several cast additions to the show. They include Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon. All will appear in some capacity during the season.
Pugh is reprising her role as Yelena Bolova who appears in the yet to be released Black Widow film as Natasha Romanoff’s sister. Farmiga will play Kate Bishop’s mother, Eleanor Bishop. Cox is said to play Maya Lopez, which is the civilian name of the superheroine, Echo. Echo is a deaf Native American with the ability to perfectly mimic the movements of other people in the vein of the Taskmaster but can include actions outside of fighting styles such as dancing and instrument playing. McClarnon is cast as William Lopez, a possible relation to Maya and might be based off of Willie “Crazy Horse” Wilson, who is Echo’s father in the source material.
Fee and Dalton will be filling the roles of Kazi and Jack Duquesne respectively. Variety speculates they could be versions of the mercenary villains Clown and the Swordsman. The series names are very close to the comic equivalents of Kazimierz Kazimierczak and Jacques Duquesne with Swordsman himself having a complicated history with the original Hawkeye. Could they be some of the big bads of the show?
All the latest reveals and news (including the inclusion of Lucky the Pizza Dog) is bringing a lot of buzz to Hawkeye. We still have to wait a while until it’s release but at least the new wave of the MCU on Disney+ begins next month with WandaVision.
