Happy New Years AEW fans! All Things All Elite is back for another week of AEW discussion. Is everyone fresh off WrestleKingdom? Still pumped after Ibushi main evented two nights in a row? Good, lets keep that energy up! We have the New Years Smash tonight and all the social media hype that has gone into that. We also have some more extremely touching segments for Brodie Lee on BTE and other parts of social media. Get informed on what’s been going on all week and get ready for AEW Dynamite tonight.
Being The Elite
- I normally don’t include footage taken during shows as it’s just sort of filler. But the first 7 minutes are behind the scenes of the Brodie tribute show which is extremely powerful. Go ahead and give it a watch.
- Matt Hardy asks for a cut from Private Party’s earnings. He asks for 30%. Private Party says “perhaps 15%” Matt says no way. Private Party says they will have to think about it.
- Joey Janela and Trent are playing chess, Trent wins then declares no one can beat him. Joey says “You haven’t beaten the grandmaster.” In comes Luchasaurus in a wig. Trent sweats profusely throughout and ends up losing.
- Dasha, Diamante, and Ortiz are looking for Alex Abrahantes, they find him singing Piano Man with modified lyrics about the Dark Order. They call him out on it and he insists he was singing about the show Law and Order. He finally makes a quick get away.
- Kip Sabian once again asks Leva Bates if she just let him win at video games. Leva insists she didn’t.
- Vickie Guerrero is doing her hair and has…one of those coverings you get over you when you’re getting your hair cut/style. Anyway, she tries to take it off and it gets stuck over her head. She is mistaken for a nun which gives her an idea. The next shot she and Nyla are dressed up, Vickie in a nun outfit and Nyla in a catholic school uniform.
- Marko and John Silver have to spin kick the top off a bottle for the BTE championship. Silver wins and retains the title.
- Matt Hardy and the music director for AEW introduce a music video that they had been working on and then, of course, show the video.
AEW Dark
- Jungle Boy (w) vs Nick Comoroto.
- Nyla Rose (w) vs Alex Garcia. After Nyla wins Vickie gets on the mike and makes fun of Garcia for losing. Nyla puts Alex through a table.
- Scorpio Sky (w) vs Ariel Levy.
- Marko Stunt comes out to cut a promo but is interrupted by -1! -1 says that Marko only wins whenever he is in a tag match with someone bigger. -1 then says when he gets older he’s going to come after Marko and he’ll be much taller. -1 and Marko need to be held apart. Cody is no match for -1 and needs more people to restrain him.
- Rey Fenix (w) vs Aaron Solow.
- Brandon Cutler (w) vs Louie Valle. After the match Cutler says that he will try to be as good of a dad as Brodie Lee was.
- Peter Avalon (w) vs Angel Fashion. After Peter wins he gives Angel a poster of himself.
- Ivelisse & Diamante (w) vs KiLynn King & Tesha Price.
- Gunn Club (w) vs Mike Verna & Bear Country.
- Shanna (w) vs Vipress.
- Matt Sydal (w) vs Baron Black.
- Thunder Rosa (w) vs Ashley Vox.
- The Acclaimed (w) vs Lee Johnson & Shawn Dean.
- Danny Limelight (w) vs Fuego Del Sol.
- Frankie Kazarian (w) vs Griff Garrison vs Angelico vs Darius Martin.
- Sammy Guevara (w) v Michael Nakazawa. After the match Sammy cut a promo about how he steals the show. He promised to be champion in the year 2021.
- Dark Order’s Five (w) vs Serpentico.
- -1 comes out once again and says that Luther looks stupid with his eye on the top of his head. He says that the Dark Order will always beat him.
Road to New Year’s Smash Night 1
- Matt Sydal talks about his relationship with Cody. That they used to work together years ago in the indies. The tagged once or twice but never faced off against each other. Cody seems to criticize Sydal for looking at wrestling as an art form and not a sport. Although he does admit that when he is actually in the ring Sydal is ruthless. Sydal sees Cody and himself as equals.
- Don Callis talks about how when Kenny was a kid he fell on ice. Don and Kenny’s uncle watched him cry out for help for an hour and a half but didn’t do anything because Kenny needed to learn a lesson. Don then attributes as a big part of why Kenny is so amazing today.
- Don then says that Fenix is weak, he depends on his brother. He doesn’t know what it’s like to be alone. But Kenny does. And that is why Kenny is going to win.
Impact, Twitter happenings, misc
- During Impact, the Motor City Machine Guns and Rich Swan question who Kenny Omega thinks he is, running into Impact, acting like he owns the place. They then say “why not take it to them right now?” The three go outside and knock on the mobile home only to be attacked from behind by The Good Brothers and Kenny.
