Gina Carano, who played mercenary Cara Dune in seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, will no longer be a part of the show going forward, Lucasfilm told io9. Lucasfiilm told the publication:
Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.
Fans of the series and franchise have been calling for Carano to receive disciplinary action for some time now, as she has a problematic history of posting transphobic, homophobic and xenophobic content, as well as Covid denial. Yesterday, #FireGinaCarano was trending on Twitter after the mixed martial artist turned actor shared an antisemitic Instagram Story comparing being a Trump supporter in America to being a Jewish person in 1930s Germany.
Cara Dune was a central character in The Mandalorian, and it is currently unknown if we’ll see the character again after this.
