WWE releases Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, several other Superstars

WWE has announced a shocking series of releases less than a week after WrestleMania.

Exactly one year to the day after WWE released a wave of Superstars after last year’s WrestleMania, the company has announced several releases today, including television mainstays like Samoa Joe and Billie Kay.

The current list of released Superstars is as follows, and will be updated as more information becomes available:

  • Samoa Joe
  • Billie Kay
  • Peyton Royce
  • Mickie James
  • Chelsea Green
  • Tucker
  • Kalisto
  • Wesley Blake
  • Bo Dallas

While it’s terrible to see anybody lose their job, it’s especially shocking to see Samoa Joe be released. Joe joined WWE in 2015 after one of the most successful non-WWE runs of the millennium, winning world championships in Ring of Honor and TNA. In WWE, Joe is a 2-time NXT Champion, a 2-time United States Champion, and the winner of the 2015 Dusty Cup alongside Finn Balor. After a series of injuries, Joe has served as Raw‘s color commentator since early 2020. He appeared alongside Michael Cole at last weekend’s WrestleMania.

We at AIPT wish every released wrestler the best of luck in their future endeavors.
