Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 06/28/2021

This could be our most diverse Channel Surfing TV picks yet.

This could truly be our most diverse Channel Surfing TV picks we’ve had yet with an animated children’s show, an animal reality competition, and a delightful crossover special. King Xavier looks to expand his territory with only Craig and his friends standing in the way in Craig of the Creek. A new champion will be crowned in the next season of America’s Top Dog. Then you never pictured the Brady family like this in Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch.

They May Take Our Lives but They Will Never Take Our Creek!

Craig of the Creek follows three best friends hanging out and getting into adventures in the titular location. Though it takes place in a DC/Baltimore suburb, through the wonders of a child’s imagination, it’s quite an expansive world with colorful characters all in their own groups but getting along in a sort of kid’s utopia. Throughout the series, a conflict has been brewing with the “kids from the other side” where their dictator doesn’t share the same ideals.

All this week, an epic five-part season finale will air pitting both sides against each other for the supremacy of the creek. What better way to assert your dominance than in an impressive game of capture the flag? The Stump Kids, the Horse Girls, the 10 Speeds and all the other folks from Craigs side need to work together to defend their way of life. Who would have thought a bunch of youths playing behind their houses would be so dramatic?

The five-day “Capture the Flag” Craig of the Creek special event begins today, June 28, on Cartoon Network.

Who’s a Good Boy (or Girl) Now?

Game shows aren’t just for people now. Early last year, America’s Top Dog debuted which put man’s best friend into the spotlight. Each episode of the first season saw five dogs and their handlers compete in a three-phase competition that placed the canines in a variety of obstacle courses and tasks that tested their athleticism and keen sense of smell. There was even a grand finale where all the winners competed for the ultimate prize and grand title. Not only was there a cash prize but monetary donations also went to animal charities.

Now the reality competition returns with an all-new course and featuring new breeds. Also different, is the introduction of head-to-head match-ups rather than taking turns in a timed event. They have dogs of different shapes and sizes but at the end of it all, we’ll find out who really is the best.

Season two of America’s Top Dog begins Tuesday, June 29, on A&E.

A Twist on a Classic

Everyone loves a good crossover but sometimes the two sides are so mismatched it becomes absolutely crazy. Case in point is Dragging the Classics: The Brady Brunch. RuPaul’s Drag Race and the beloved classic sitcom are coming together for a new special.

It will be a remake of the season two episode “Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?” where Jan is ashamed of her blonde hair and starts wearing a black wig. All three original Brady boys will be involved with Barry Williams playing the patriarch, Mike Brady, while the other two reprise their roles. The original Jan and Cindy will also participate but are playing new characters.

Then six former Drag Race contestants will make up the rest of the family with BenDeLaCreme doing drag on drag to portray Greg Brady. It wouldn’t be complete without RuPaul who will make a special appearance along with Drag Race judge, Michelle Visage.

Dragging the Classics: The Brady Brunch will premiere exclusively this Wednesday, June 30, on Paramount+.
