Bayley suffers an injury training; will be out nine months

Bianca Belair’s new opponent for Money in the Bank will be decided tonight on SmackDown.

WWE has announced that SmackDown Superstar Bayley has suffered an injury while training and will be out for approximately nine months.

Bayley was scheduled to wrestle champion Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank on July 18. WWE says a replacement for Belair’s title defense will be determined tonight on SmackDown.

For fans of Bayley and the SmackDown women’s division in general, this is difficult news to hear. Bayley was hailed by many as the MVP of the so-called Pandemic Era of WWE, refining her heel character and carrying the SmackDown women’s division as the longest reigning champion in the brand’s history. Following a bizarre snub at WrestleMania where she didn’t compete at all, it appeared Bayley was set to get back on track this summer.

All of us at AIPT wish Bayley a speedy recovery.
