Channel Surfing: Awesome TV Picks for the week of 08/30/2021

Have a good laugh with these three Channel Surfing TV picks.

Sometimes we could all use a good laugh so that’s why for our Channel Surfing TV picks this week, we present to you three top notch comedies. Three strangers team up to catch a killer in Only Murders in the Building. The Staten Island Trio climb up the ladder and see what it’s like to be leaders of the Vampiric Council in the latest What We Do in the Shadows. Finally, class is back in session for a new season of A.P. Bio.

Everyone Has a Podcast Now

Serial was a game changer when it was released drawing more interest into the true crime genre while bringing more ears to the podcast medium. It was an engaging master class in first-person long form journalism and storytelling. When a mysterious murder occurs in their building, three residents who have a shared love for true crime, decide to work together to catch the killer and document the process in their very own podcast.

Only Murders in the Building boasts an impressive cast with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez in starring roles. The series takes an amusing approach to the genre and its fans while creating an interesting whodunit.

The first three episodes will be released Tuesday, August 31, on Hulu.

There Can Only Be One

When we last left What We Do in the Shadows, Guillermo came to the rescue and saved Nando, Laszlo, and Nadja from a devious plot by the Vampiric Council to kill them. In the process, many vampires were slaughtered leaving a huge leadership void. In the new season, it seems the show’s protagonists are given the opportunity to become supreme leaders. However, there’s only one throne.

How long can they all play nice before their own ambitions take over? Also, expect more misadventures of these ancient vampires trying to assimilate to modern day in addition to crossing paths with more supernatural creatures such as werewolves.

Season four of What We Do in the Shadows debuts Thursday, September 2, on FX.

Earning College Credit in Hilarity

A.P. Bio is one of those shows that received a new life on a streamer following a network cancellation. This week, it will return for its fourth season, second on Peacock. Former Harvard professor turned high school teacher, Jack Griffin, doesn’t really instruct his students as much as use them for his own harebrained schemes.

There will be forbidden workplace romances, teenage cults, and even a tornado. That doesn’t even mention the exciting guest stars that include Joe Manganiello and Bruce Campbell, who plays Jack’s father. It should be a wild and crazy ride of a school year.

The entire fourth season of A.P. Bio drops Thursday, September 2, on Peacock.
