Marvel Unlimited app gets massive update, adding new Infinity Comics

Marvel Unlimited relaunches with new pricing, features, and Infinity Comics.

Marvel has revealed an all-new Marvel Unlimited app has launched today. The app’s refresh includes a new line of vertical Infinity Comics designed for phones and tablets, multiple subscription tiers, and new features. Marvel Unlimited will now be available for $9.99 a month, $69/year, and $99/year. All told Marvel Unlimited already has over 29,000 issues available to read.

The new Infinity Comics are designed for high-resolution vertical screens with 27 Infinity Comics available on the app now and over 100 issues planned by the end of 2021. The comics are in-universe and will include works by creators including Jonathan Hickman, Declan Shalvey, Skottie Young, Dax Gordine, Alyssa Wong, Nathan Stockman, Kelly Thompson, Gerry Duggan, Lucas Werneck, Geoffo, and more. Series in the Infinity Comics line include X-Men Unlimited, Giant-Size Little Marvels, Captain America, It’s Jeff, Black Widow, Amazing Fantasy, Deadpool, Shang-Chi, and Venom/Carnage.

Marvel teased a “new comics X-perience back on Monday by Hickman and Shalvey, which suggests they’ll be paired together on something X-Men-related. We’ll keep you posted on that, but note the vertical scrolling is a unique way of reading digital comics in the gif below.

New updates include unlimited offline downloads, personalized reading guides, streamlined design, and content sharing capabilities. The new capabilities were improved by Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) which promise better stability as well as new titles added weekly.

“These updates and a focus on personalization will allow us to reach a new generation of Marvel fans and enhance the experience of current fans,” said Doug Vance, VP of Product and Marketing, DMED Technology in a statement. “When we redesign apps like this from the ground up, we align with business goals of our different partners and subsidiaries of The Walt Disney Company with the ultimate goal of growing our audience and digital subscriptions while also delivering an even more visually immersive experience.”

Marvel Unlimited users can expect to earn points, see their progress as they read content, and get rewarded for returning to the app. Another feature includes real-time incentivization.

New York, NY— September 9, 2021 — Marvel Unlimited, Marvel’s award-winning digital comics subscription service, just got a huge refresh! Today, Marvel relaunched the fan-favorite app that offers members access to over 29,000 issues of classic and newer titles. From the roots of Marvel’s iconic characters to the ever-evolving universe behind its blockbuster films, games, and TV shows, the app houses over 80 years of storytelling for fans and newcomers alike.

With the relaunch, Marvel Unlimited is introducing its exclusive Infinity Comics: full screen high-resolution vertical comics designed for phone and tablet. There are currently 27 Infinity Comics available on the app, with over 100 issues planned by the end of 2021. The comics, which live in universe, come from top Marvel creators including Jonathan Hickman, Declan Shalvey, Skottie Young, Dax Gordine, Alyssa Wong, Nathan Stockman, Kelly Thompson, Gerry Duggan, Lucas Werneck, Geoffo, among others. Infinity Comics will feature series including X-Men Unlimited, Giant-Size Little Marvels, Captain America, It’s Jeff, Black Widow, Amazing Fantasy, Deadpool, Shang-Chi, and Venom/Carnage.

Marvel, working with Technology teams in Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED), is relaunching with new capabilities to dramatically improve how fans discover and read comics. The app now has unlimited downloads, so fans can dive into new stories anytime and anywhere. The app also features best-in-class speed and search tools, greater stability, as well as personalized reading guides based on user preferences. Other new additions include content sharing capabilities outside of the app, an annual plan app subscription option, and new comic titles added weekly. New titles are added as soon as three months after they’re in stores.

Marvel Unlimited now has multiple subscription tiers for members to choose from. There is a monthly tier for $9.99, annual subscription for $69/year, and an annual plus subscription for $99/year. The new annual plus subscription comes with the benefits included in monthly and annual tiers, as well as an exclusive membership kit, invites to in-person events, and 10% off ShopDisney.com.

Marvel Insider loyalists will also benefit from the all-new Marvel Unlimited app through in-app integration. Through Marvel Unlimited, members can earn points, see their progress as they consume, and get rewarded for returning to the app. Fans will be incentivized in real-time to use and amplify the content.
