[NYCC21] AIPT Science presents panel on ‘The Department of Truth’ conspiracy theories, with James Tynion IV

Saturday, October 9, at 2:00 pm!

It’s not disinformation! At this year’s New York Comic Con, AIPT Science proudly presents “The Conspiracy Theories of The Department of Truth,” with James Tynion IV and an all-star panel of experts.

What Tynion and artist Martin Simmonds have done with their smash-hit Image Comics series is gripping, but also informative. Check out our articles detailing each real-life conspiracy theory from The Department of Truth. Sometimes the truth really is stranger than fiction!

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

Moderator and AIPT Science editor Russ Dobler will discuss with Tynion why he wanted to write The Department of Truth, the importance of using real conspiracy theories, and what was going through his head on January 6. Plus:

  • Critical thinking professor Bob Blaskiewicz on the mystery of Denver International Airport (issue #5), and the horror of school shooting conspiracy theories (issue #3)
  • English literature expert Eve Siebert on the “Phantom Time Hypothesis” (issue #6)
  • Historian of science Brian Regal on the sociological connections of Bigfoot and other cryptids

And maybe even some talk about Tynion’s brand new Substack-exclusive UFO series, Blue Book!

It all goes down at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 9, in room 406.2. Unless the Men in Black get to us first!

AIPT Science is co-presented by AIPT and the New York City Skeptics.
