On Monday, Cinelinx’s Jordan Maison exclusively revealed that a new animated series featuring Darth Maul is currently in the works. While this report doesn’t come from one of the major trades, Maison’s word is nearly as reliable — especially when it comes to Star Wars info.
According Maison’s scoop, the series will feature voice work from Sam Witwer (of course), Dee Bradley Baker, and Matt Lanter. It’s also rumored (but not confirmed) that Paul Bettany will return to voice Dryden Vos, who he played in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Vos also made a brief unvoiced cameo during the ‘Siege of Mandalore’ arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, with Maul telling the Shadow Collective to go into hiding prior to Order 66.
The rumored animated series would track Maul’s time as running the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate before Solo, meaning it could bring in all types of characters from one of Star Wars’ darkest (and best) eras.
Dee Bradley Baker’s involvement indicates that clones will make an appearance, although it could be in any number of roles: Reprogrammed stormtroopers, the Bad Batch, or maybe even a flashback before Order 66.
Whatever the case, a Maul animated series has all types of potential to be something truly fantastic.
