WWE is reportedly ‘very interested’ in MJF

He’s better than you, and apparently, WWE knows it.

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, WWE — as well as its broadcast partners in Fox and USA — are “very interested” in All Elite Wrestling star MJF, and would like to make a play for him when his AEW contract expires.

An individual at one of WWE’s broadcast partners, who Zarian cites as a “very reliable source”, said of MJF’s now famous promo battle with former WWE Superstar CM Punk, “I actually stopped what I was doing and listened to him. I don’t think I have done that with pro wrestling in a long time.” Zarian goes on to say that “WWE is very interested in him,” and elaborates: “When I reached out to a source within WWE, they mentioned that the same conversations the networks have had have happened within the company regarding MJF in the past.”

MJF has been wrestling professionally since 2015. That year, he auditioned for WWE’s reality competition Tough Enough, the video of which is amusingly still available on WWE’s YouTube channel.

Since then, MJF has worked his way up to wrestling superstardom, and is considered one of the “Four Pillars” of AEW alongside Jungle Boy, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin. He has repeatedly made mention of his contract expiring in 2024, and has implied both on and off air that a “bidding war” between AEW and WWE will be coming. Now, it appears that WWE is in agreement.

MJF will be in action on tonight’s special Winter is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite, where he defends his Dynamite Diamond ring against Dante Martin.
