Hasbro releases yet another ‘deluxe’ Boba Fett figure

UPDATE: Preorders on this figure have been delayed. No one seems to know when, but you can pretty much bet on it being exactly when you’re unable to be in front of a computer screen to order.

On Monday evening, Hasbro revealed that they are releasing yet another Boba Fett figure in their Black Series toyline. This one is based on his look in the second season of The Mandalorian when he showed up in the planet Tython (Chapter 14).

If the gallery above has you experiencing deja vu, its because this version of Boba Fett looks very similar to the “Throne Room” one that was revealed back in December. Yakface.com posted a good comparison shot of the two figures on their Instagram page, which is embedded below.

As you can see, the Tython Boba Fett has a much grittier (and arguably much better) paint job, although his face does give off some Uncle Fester vibes. It also doesn’t come with a gaderffi stick, which was a pretty key part of the character’s big non-cameo debut.

It’s worth noting that the other Tython Boba Fett (yes, there was another one revealed even earlier) features a similarly sweet paint job and a gaderffi stick. I know he didn’t use the weapon after getting his armor back, but come on.

So is it worth getting the new version Tython Boba Fett just for the weathered armor he’s sporting?

One big strike against the figure is that it carries Hasbro’s absurdly inflated “deluxe” price tag of $31.49. As if that weren’t bad enough, it’s also a Walmart exclusive. This makes the “Deluxe” Tython Boba Fett a very easy pass for me.

If you enjoy terrible ordering experiences though, then the figure is set to go up for preorder on Tuesday, February 1 at 1:00 PM. It’s expected to arrive next year in February 2023.
