Don’t miss Kevin Feige, C.B. Cebulski, and Dan Buckley’s response to Joe Quesada leaving Marvel.
Joe Quesada has taken to his private Facebook and Twitter to let fans know he will be stepping away from Marvel Comics. Quesada became known for his comics of the 1990s eventually becoming editor of Marvel Comics’ Marvel Knights in 1998 and then editor-in-chief- of Marvel Comics in 2000. Since then, Quesada was named Chief Creative Officer in 2010 and then retitled as executive vice president and creative director in October 2019.
In his post on Facebook, Quesada was positive and grateful to Marvel Comics. “Marvel made me an offer that changed the trajectory of my life,” Quesada wrote, “But lately, I’ve found myself thinking more and more of my favorite stanza from T.S. Eliot’s Little Gidding, ‘We shall not cease from exploration / And the end of all our exploring / Will be to arrive where we started / And know the place for the first time.'”
Quesada added, “As you can imagine, my love for the company, its characters, and all my coworkers runs deep, but I have an exciting new chapter that’s about to begin, so the time feels right.”
Quesada made it clear he’s not stepping away from comics entirely with “several insanely cool projects of my own that you’ll be hearing about in the coming months, including a short indie film I’m writing and directing. Stay tuned!”
