Following Wednesday’s fantastic episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, StarWars.com revealed some new offerings for Hasbro’s Black Series and Vintage Collection toylines.
Let’s take a look at the Vintage Collection figure first since most folks have already seen it.
Darth Vader (The Dark Times)
Thanks to someone spotting this figure at a store in New Zealand, Yakface.com was able to report on its existence over a week ago. A few days later, Instagram user justfigsnaps and Jedi Temple Archives provided a beautiful in-handle gallery of the toy.
The general consensus (which I agree with) is that this might be the best 3.75″ Darth Vader figure ever produced. In addition to the beautiful sculpt and paintwork, it comes with alternate hands — something we don’t see nearly enough in the Vintage Collection line these days. Even someone like me who has more than enough Vaders on their shelf is severely tempted to buy one.
Darth Vader (The Dark Times) will retail for $14.99 with an expected arrival this fall. It will be available from most major retailers for preorder on Thursday at 1:00 PM EDT.
Now let’s take a look at the Black Series offerings.
Purge Trooper (Phase II Armor)
Even if you aren’t a fan of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series (which is hard to fathom after this week’s episode), this one is still worth picking up — especially if you are a fan of the Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Unfortunately, it’s a Walmart exclusive, meaning a higher retail price point ($27.99) and even higher blood pressure when you can’t find it.
If you’re feeling lucky, then preorders for the figure will open up on Thursday at 1:00 PM. If/when preorders are canceled, you can try hunting the figure down in person this fall when it’s scheduled to be on the shelves.
UPDATE: This item’s preorder release has been pushed back to July 21 at 10:00 AM.
1-JAC
You may not remember this droid from its brief appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s second episode. You also might have incorrectly assumed it was 4-LOM. Whatever the case, it makes for a cool-looking figure.
Unfortunately, 1-JAC is also a Walmart exclusive that carries an inflated $27.99 retail price point. The figure will be available for preorder (allegedly) on Thursday at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival this Fall.

Tala (Imperial Officer)
A great character who’s definitely worthy of shelf space. Unfortunately, digital renders won’t cut it when you’re trying to decide on buying a figure based on a human — especially with regards to the portrait.
If you’d like to roll the dice, however, then Tala will be available for preorder tomorrow at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. The figure will retail for $24.99 and is expected to arrive in Spring of 2023.
