Courtesy of Sam Haine, AIPT can exclusively reveal a sizzle reel for the upcoming Kickstarter A Kaiju Christmas. Launching next week via Kickstarter, the all-ages twist on The Night Before Christmas may interest children and adults alike, mainly because it mixes monsters and the holidays.
“There’s just something so magical about the world in December, everything slows down a little, and you have more time to enjoy the things that really matter,” Sam Haine said.
You might remember Haine from his comics series Slow City Blues from last year, but with Kaiju Christmas, expect something a little different.
So what’s A Kaiju Christmas about?
A KAIJU CHRISTMAS is a children’s book for All Ages based on The Night Before Christmas, but instead of a Santa flying down to drop off presents a giant monster snowman appears through an extra-dimensional portal to ruin the holidays! And it’s up to a group of brave children to save Christmas and the world!
“Like all the fun family traditions, like the 24-hour Christmas Eve marathon of “A Christmas Story” on TBS! My dad was also a big inspiration for this book, when I was a kid, he would read to me every night, with my favorite stories being those about heroes my age saving the day. –The Time Warp Trio being a top choice! So, John and I wanted to combine those elements into a book that kids (and adults) would love to read every Christmas for years to come. The fact that this is John’s first book and he’s doing such beautiful work under such a tight deadline is beyond impressive. I have a trilogy planned, and if this book is successful, we will definitely give him more time for the sequel!”
