Fans of comics conventions and X-Men have a new opportunity to express their love of the comics and share with fellow fans, and it’s called the Uncanny Experience. The fan convention is taking place September 16th and 17, 2023, at The Minneapolis Club, with multiple tiers for fans to enjoy the experience.
The experience will feature traditional convention activities like celebrity autographs, comic book sellers, cosplayers, and special guests. The confirmed special guests so far include legendary comic book writer Chris Claremont, the voice of Wolverine – Cal Dodd, the voice of Rogue – Lenore Zann, and director/animator Larry Houston (X-Men: The Animated Series), with more guests to be announced at a later date.
The three tiers available for fans to purchase include:
- General Admission allows access to the Experience for the two-day event including all described above. Price: $95.
- VIP tickets give you all the perks mentioned plus dedicated lines for registration, signings, a collectible poster, and early access to the venue – ideal for photos with less crowds. Plus, access to Saturday evening’s “Party in the Mansion” Event (21+). Price: $200.
- Omega Level ticket holders receive everything mentioned so far plus an invitation to a private VIP Cocktail reception with intimate access to the special guests, two free autographs from the special guest(s) of their choice, a 15-minute one-on-one meet & greet with their special guest of choice, expedited check-in, a merch bag full of goodies, access to the “Party in the Mansion” event (21+), reserved seating in the panel room, and dedicated customer service. It has been nearly 60 years since the X-Men first landed on the pages of Marvel Comics back in 1963. To celebrate, Giant-Size Productions has launched the inaugural event – The Uncanny Experience. The immersive fan convention will cater to fans of the X-Men with unique immersion elements in a historic X-Mansion-like environment, celebrity appearances, cosplay, vendor booths, panel programming, and so much more. Attendees can expect a hybrid event that combines comic book convention elements alongside immersive entertainment. Each attendee will get an Uncanny Student ID badge to enter the event, take Instagram-worthy photos in the historic venue, meet our special guests through booth signings & panels, attend classes on various topics like Mutant History and Understanding tarot with Tarot, enjoy the free-play video arcade room (chili fries not included), and find fellow mutant enthusiasts. The weekend will have a cosplay contest and feature special cosplayer guests from around the United States. Plus, everyone loves a good villain, so we’re bringing the Hellfire Club to The Uncanny Experience with a lavish red-velvet lounge for drinks and debauchery. The weekend concludes with a Graduation Ceremony where those in attendance will receive a diploma if they complete the Immersive Experience activations stationed throughout the mansion. Entrance to The Uncanny Experience is open to all ages, but anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
