[Sundance ’23] More shorts from Sundance

Funny, sad, and scary.

The Sundance Film Festival is in full swing and people are enjoying a variety of movies in person and from the comfort of their own homes. Here are some more short films AIPT was able to check out.

AirHostess-737

Few things make a person more self-concious than having work done on their teeth. An air hostess has just received braces and everything that happens on the flight she is working is centered around them. Or so she thinks. From that set-up, the short tells a film about loss and family.

AliEN0089

There have always been stories about how people interact with technology. This first person short is about a gamer named Sabina who is receiving threats in the real and virtual worlds. The film looks at themes of toxicity and bullying along with the effects it has on people.

Help Me Understand

Silly short about six women who are taking part in a focus group. Filled with great one liners, everything is not quite as it seems. An interesting twist leads to a deeper conversation, but things never lose their sense of fun.

In the Flesh

This short is about a woman who is using the bathtub faucet to masturbate when suddenly the pipes explode releasing a brown sludge and she begins to leak black goo. A funny film that makes great use of horror tropes.

Walk of Shame

A mourning widow follows a man after she suspects he is wearing her husband’s Army jacket. A quiet story that highlights the pain of loss and trying to move forward. The deep emotions are highlighted by the small amount of dialogue. A meaningful and at times painful watch.

The Sundance Film Festival takes place from January 19 -29. Full shorts lineup can be found HERE
