‘Blue Beetle’ trailer leaks and reveals a slick super suit

The Blue Beetle trailer was released earlier today on YouTube via the DC Asia Official YouTube account. The movie stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle with Susan Sarandon, obviously the picture’s villain, as Victoria Kord. George Lopez plays Jaime’s father Rudy, who is clearly a supportive father given what we can see in the trailer. This film was first announced back in 2018.

If I were to compare the general vibe of this project after watching the trailer, it’d be Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse meets Iron Man. Not only is there a super suit involved, but it looks like a heck of a lot of fun. Seeing a hero gain a new suit isn’t too unfamiliar–Spider-Man recently went through a similar situation after being gifted suits by Iron Man–but it certainly looks incredible. The supportive family element is very present in the trailer too, and Jaime is definitely a down-on-his-luck guy we can all relate to. Music had a modern hip hop and house sound that feels hip and cool, another reason it feels like a good time like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Oh, and Blue Beetle doesn’t just have a suit that can do anything…he’s got his own vehicle too!

The trailer has since been taken down, although the link to it is still available below for when it’s released again. At the time it was taken down, it had been viewed 3,600 times and was available for 50 or so minutes.

So what’s Blue Beetle about?

When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.”

Also very cool, we got to see what Jaime sees from inside the suit. It’s a techno-organic look that’s quite unique from any other superhero.
