Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

This was a very good weekend for Star Wars toy collectors.

At this year’s Star Wars Celebration, Hasbro to the opportunity to deliver some surprisingly good news — and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi.

Let’s kick things off with the Vintage Collection reveals first, which are sure to put a dent in all of our wallets:

The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter

First off…YES!

This set looks fantastic. In addition to the gorgeous vehicle, we also get an accessory-packed Din Djarin (including the Dark Saber and Beskar spear) sporting a wonderful soft goods cape. Add in Grogu along with a flight stand, and I’m hesitantly ready to call the $129.99 MSRP a good value.

If you want one, you can join me on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT when The Mandalorian’s N1 Starfighter goes up for preorder. It will be available from most major retailers with an expected arrival this Fall.

Jabba’s Court Denizen’s 4-pack

This is a multi-pack that we’ve needed for a long time — especially for those of us still trying to properly staff our skiffs, sail barges, or throne rooms. Sadly, the $72.99 MSRP means each figure costs over $18.

Oh, Hasbro…just when I was ready to start forgiving you.

Thankfully, we have until April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT before this set goes on preorder to decide whether or not it’s worth purchasing. It will be sold exclusively through Hasbro Pulse and Shop Disney and is expected to arrive this Summer.

“Deluxe” Black Krrsantan

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

This is another one that’s tough due to the price point. With a $27.99 MSRP, this 3.75-scale figure costs as much as many exclusive Black Series offerings. He does look pretty great, though.

Black Krrsantan will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers with an expected arrival this Fall.

Nien Nunb

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

In the words of Lizzo/The Duchess of Plazir-15, “It’s About Damn Time.”

Nien Nunb will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. The figure carries an MSRP of $16.99 and is expected to be available this Summer.

Moff JerJerrod

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Although I could use a few more Imperial officers for my Empire display, the main reason I want this figure is to recreate this rescored scene. Don’t judge.

Moff JerJerrod will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. The figure carries an MSRP of $16.99 and is expected to be available this Summer.

Vintage Collection Pipeline Reveals

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

For pipeline reveals, I normally add a remark to each one based on my excitement about the figure. In this instance, however, consider each outstanding reveal to be worth a full compliment of exclamation points:

  • Grand Inquisitor (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
  • Thrawn
  • Pre Vizsla
  • Director Krennic
  • Darth Revan

There will also be a new HasLab project for the Vintage Collection later this year.

Now let’s take a look at the Black Series reveals.

These next five offerings from Season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch will retail for $24.99 exclusively at Walmart, which is already a good reason to skip them. They’ll allegedly be available for preorder on May 4 at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival this Fall.

Hunter (Mercenary Gear)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series revealsStar Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series revealsStar Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Really like the design, but not enough to shell out full price for a repaint.

Tech (Mercenary Gear

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Same sentiment with this fella (RIP).

Echo (Mercenary Gear)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

This one speaks to me for some reason though — maybe enough to replace the current Echo I have in my Bad Batch display.

Wrecker (Mercenary Gear)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

I’m almost afraid to say this since someone at Hasbro may see it and jack up the price, but it’s weird that this figure is $24.99 when it’s a repaint of the “deluxe” version from a few years back.

Clone Commando

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

You almost have to admire Hasbro’s dedication to not fixing or changing the ridiculously inaccurate body mold for Black Series Clone Commandos.

Omega (Mercenary Gear)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

For some reason, Omega was put in the main line instead of being added to the wave of Walmart exclusives. She also looks fantastic. Add in the accessories (including an alternate head), but this version will definitely be replacing my Season 1 figure on the shelf.

Omega will also retail for $24.99 and be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. Despite the earlier ordering window, the figure won’t be available until Spring 2024.

Jabba the Hutt & Salacious B. Crumb

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series revealsStar Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

At $89.99, this set is unequivocally overpriced. Jabba alone isn’t worth $45.

That said, my poor Black Series Jabba the Hutt has been sitting on an old 3.75-scale dais (and without a properly scaled Salacious Crumb) for far too long. Looks like this purchase will have to be a game time decision when preorders open on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT.

The set will be sold exclusively at Hasbro Pulse and Shop Disney. It is expected to arrive this summer.

Force Spirits 3-pack

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

It’s a cool set to be sure, but for $77.99 (approximately $26 per figure) they could have given us an alternate head for Anakin with the likeness of Sebastian Shaw.

The set will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT exclusively from Hasbro Pulse and Shop Disney. It is expected to arrive this Summer.

These next two reveals were made outside of Star Wars Celebration for some reason — which is a shame because they are outstanding.

Maul (Old Master)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series revealsStar Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

I don’t have room for this incredible-looking figure on my Maul shelf, but room will be made.

Maul will retail for $24.99, which is a pleasant surprise since it’s a GameStop exclusive. It will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival this fall.

UPDATE: The live preorder link for this figure lists the price as $28.99, which is disappointing. $4 might not seem like a lot, but it is when you consider the constantly creeping price points. It also makes the lack of a hood/cane from the ‘Old Master’ (i.e. ‘Rebels’) significantly more noticeable. Perhaps my Maul shelf will remain unchanged after all…

Dok-Ondar (Galaxy’s Edge)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series revealsStar Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Despite being a Shop Disney exclusive, this gorgeous figure will also be offered at the baseline MSRP of $24.99. The price is still too high, but Hasbro deserves some credit for actually lowering consumer costs for once. In addition to being a cool Ithorian character with a great design/sculpt,  Dok-Ondar comes with some neat accessories, including the Sword of Khashyun.

The figure be available for preorder at Shop Disney on May 4 at 1:00 PM EDT with an expected arrival this fall.

Artoo-Detoo (R2D2)

$24.99 is a bitter pill to swallow for an astromech, but at least this one has some great features/accessories and is a figure that new collectors still need.

R2Dr will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. The figure is expected to arrive this Fall.

Cad Bane (The Book of Boba Fett)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

I’m happy with the Black Series Cad Bane I’ve got, but glad this version is available for folks who missed him.

The figure will retail for $24.99. It goes up for preorder April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers with an expected arrival in Spring 2024.

Darth Vader (Return of the Jedi)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Same thoughts here — a really nice refresh of the character for folks who missed him. The removable hand is a nice touch, as well. Also, thank you Hasbro for keeping the MSRP at $24.99 (which is still too high) and not using the anniversary blister card packing as an excuse to raise it.

The figure will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. It is expected to arrive this Fall.

Luke Skywalker (Return of the Jedi)

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Nice to see Hasbro getting some use from one of the stretch goals for the failed Black Series Rancor campaign.

Luke Skywalker will retail for $24.99. The figure will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. It is expected to arrive this Fall.

Emperor’s Royal Guard

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

Unless these come with a feature that lets the capes lay flat, I’m good with what I’ve got.

The Emporer’s Royal Guard will retail for $24.99. The figure will be available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from most major retailers. It is expected to arrive this Fall.

Black Series Pipeline Reveals

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

  • Battlefront 2 battle damaged Grievous (cool, but I don’t trust that the joints will be right enough)
  • Pre Vizsla (one of the first Black Series figures I’ve been truly excited for in a long time)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi from Obi-Wan Kenobi (interested)
  • Battle Damaged Vader from Obi-Wan Kenobi (VERY interested)
  • Force ghost Qui-Gon from Obi-Wan Kenobi (I’m not interested, but I know plenty of other folks will be).
  • Clone Commander Appo (definitely one I’ll have to see in hand first).
  • There will be a new wave of holiday figures (hopefully available before the actual holidays and for a reasonable price).

We don’t typically do role play stuff here, but a couple of the reveals were too good not to mention:

332nd Ahsoka’s Clone Trooper Helmet

Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals Star Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series revealsStar Wars Celebration: Hasbro Vintage Collection & Black Series reveals

For $131.99, you can wear one of the best helmet designs in Star Wars and have your voice sound like a clone trooper.

The helmet will be available for preorder from Amazon and other fan channel (i.e. toy-focused) retailers on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT. It is expected to arrive this Fall.

Star Wars Chatter Back Chopper Animatronic

I need this. My dog needs this (or needs to be challenged by this).

The item will retail for $79.99. It will available for preorder on April 11 at 1:00 PM EDT from Hasbro Pulse, Amazon, and Target.
