AMC release trailer for ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’

If you thought you were done with ‘The Walking Dead’ universe, this trailer might change your mind.

On Thursday, AMC released the long-awaited trailer for their upcoming Negan/Maggie spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City. It will be the first of multiple miniseries that follow the main characters from the original Walking Dead show.

I know…we’re all sick of zombie stuff, particularly from the Walking Dead screen franchise. But even a jaded reviewer like me has to admit that this looks pretty good.

In addition to the great setting and the intense Negan/Maggie pairing, the trailer hints at some potentially fantastic elements of the upcoming miniseries:

  • Someone has kidnapped a teenage Hershel Rhee who also has history with Negan, thus giving Maggie a somewhat plausible reason to seek out his help.
  •  Meanwhile, someone is hunting Negan — likely due to something awful he did to them and/or their family back during his time as leader of the Saviors.
  • ZOMBIE MONSTERS.

Combine that with getting to see Maggie and Negan constantly interact and you’ve got yourself a worthwhile idea for a spinoff.

The Walking Dead: Dead City will debut on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, June 18 at 10:00 PM EDT. The remaining episodes will air on Sundays at 9:00 PM EDT
