Abigail Thorn cast in ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’

Thorn will be the first transgender actor in a non-minor role for Star Wars screen media.

This week, Alysia Leach of TheDirect reported that Abigail Thorn has been cast in the upcoming Star Wars series, Star Wars: The Acolyte. According to Thorn’s agency, her character is named Ensign Eurus. The ensign designation strongly suggests that Eurus will be part of the Galactic Republic’s military.

Thorn’s casting also makes her the first transgender actor to portray a non-minor role in the Star Wars screen media, which is a significant milestone.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to debut in 2024. No date or season has been announced, but we should get one soon considering that filming on the project reportedly wrapped earlier this month. The series will stream exclusively on Disney+.
