On Thursday, Jeff Sneider of Above the Line exclusively revealed that Donald Glover and his brother Stephen will be writing the scripts for the upcoming Star Wars series, Lando. The news was later confirmed by Carly Thomas at the Hollywood Reporter.
The Glovers will take over the scripting duties for writer/director Justin Simien, who recently departed the project. Donald Glover will also take over the title role he previously (and wonderfully) portrayed in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story (Disney)
Although Donald Glover’s immense talent is well-known, Stephen Glover has been nominated for multiple Emmys for his work on Atlanta. He was also a producer on Guava Island and Swarm.
Now the questions become whether or not Disney/Lucasfilm will bring Billy Dee Williams on board and make this series one of the best things ever. I can’t be the only one who hopes each episode starts with the older Lando playing of game of Sabacc and telling a story about his past — especially if Donald Glover has to deal with his older self’s unreliable narration.
Whatever the case, it should be exciting to see what the Glover brothers come up with.
