Disney changes ‘Ahsoka’ weekly release date

…and reveals a fantastic new clip.

This week, Disney announced that the upcoming two-episode premiere of Ahsoka has been moved up from Wednesday, August 23 at 12:00 AM PT to Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00 PM PT. Moving forward, the first season of the series will continue to release episodes each Tuesday evening at the same time.

Disney also released a fantastic new clip from the series featuring Herra Syndulla and Chopper in a dogfight aboard the Phantom II while Ahsoka takes battles Marrok and an android assassin on the ground. It’s stuff we’ve seen flashes of in the previous trailers, but each segment receives a much longer look this time around.

There’s something truly wonderful about seeing Chopper and Herra snipe at each other in live-action.

But let’s get back to the time change. For folks on the east coast, it will be nice not having to avoid spoilers all day at work/school before getting a chance to watch each new episode. For reviewers like me, however, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Since we apparently didn’t offer the correct blood sacrifices this time to receive screeners, reviews may be difficult to post the same evening as an episode debuts — especially if it has a long run time. That being said, it’s charmingly nostalgic in the age of streaming to have a set evening time for a highly anticipated show to come on.

Either way, we’ll all be watching it together.

The first two episodes of Ahsoka will debut on Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00 PM ET exclusively on Disney+. If you need a primer on Ahsoka Tano’s history in the Star Wars franchise, we’ve got you covered.
