When a franchise has the same home as Puppet Master and Evil Bong, it is easy to be overlooked. Demonic Toys: Jack Attack is the latest installment from the Full Moon Features series. The titular Jack-in-the-box is back and this time he is terrorizing an orphan named Lily (Sofia Castellanos).
Even for a film about killer dolls, the story is bare bones. The sixty minute run time all but guarantees this – especially when the actual movie is closer to forty-five minutes if establishing shots are removed. This puts all the focus on the kills. Jack Attack has some gory ones including one involving a mulching machine and another in which an anvil is used in a way that would make The Three Stooges proud. There are some great scenes with the practical effects standing out.
Demonic Toys: Jack Attack leans into the campiness. From the over the top gore to comically large text messages, the film is all about having fun. The “happy” ending sums it all up as it is less about leaving an impression on the audience and more about another bloody death. It is a goofy and perfect ending.
Demonic Toys: Jack Attack arrives on Full Moon Features August 25
