Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 11/20/2023

Find some time this Thanksgiving weekend to catch one of our Channel Surfing TV picks.

If you have a break during this Thanksgiving holiday, then you have no excuse to not catch at least one of our Channel Surfing TV picks this week. Prepare for more midwestern crime drama in the latest season of Fargo. Don’t forget to bring your appetite for the upcoming sequel Good Burger 2. Then, an unlikely duo trek across a post-apocalyptic landscape in My Daemon.

The Past is Catching Up

Fargo is an anthology black comedy/crime drama series based off of the Coen brothers’ film of the same name. It returns this week with a brand-new story set in the shared universe created by Noah Hawley.

While last season was a period piece taking place in 1950, the latest installment is more current set during 2019 in Minnesota and North Dakota. A seemingly normal housewife named Dorothy “Dot” Lyon (Juno Temple) is caught up in legal trouble that causes her to return to the dark life she thought she left behind. Now out in the public eye, Dot must evade Sheriff Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm) to protect herself and her loved ones.

The two-episode season five premiere of Fargo airs Tuesday, November 21, on FX.

Can I Take Your Order?

Good Burger first began as a recurring sketch on the Nickelodeon series All That. It became so popular that it even spawned a feature film. 25 years later, that movie would receive a sequel.

In Good Burger 2, Dexter Reed (Keenan Thompson) has fallen on hard times and turns to his friend Ed (Kel Mitchell) for his old job. While working at the fast food restaurant, Dexter thinks up a new plan to help turn his fortunes, but it could possibly put the Good Burger at risk. We’ll see familiar faces alongside a new crew in this next stage of Dexter and Ed’s adventure.

Good Burger 2 premieres Wednesday, November 22, on Paramount+.

A Boy and His “Dog”

My Daemon takes place in a near future where a nuclear explosion has devastated the Earth. The ubiquitous nuclear material causes the formation of grotesque creatures known as daemons. A young boy named Kento is accompanied by his daemon friend Anna as they set out on a quest to save Kento’s mother. Along the way forces, both human and non, close in on the pair.

The anime influenced series is written by Otsuichi (Hirotaka Adachi) and directed by Nat Yoswatananont. It is produced by the Thai animation company Igloo Studios.

Stream the entire first season of My Daemon beginning Thursday, November 23, on Netflix.
