WWE Royal Rumble 2024 full card and predictions
Logan Paul (c) vs. Kevin Owens for the United States Championship
Shane: Even though I don’t see Logan Paul losing the United States Championship until WrestleMania at least, this match will be characteristically great. Kevin Owens can pretty much get a good performance out of anybody and Logan Paul has proven he isn’t just anybody. Plus, Paul needs to keep the title warm till he loses it to LA Knight at Mania.
Winner: Logan Paul
Jason: This should be a fun match, though I wish KO wasn’t so often relegated to babysitting the famous names rather than vying for a main title. I know Paul is not your average celeb match, and the actual action of this match should be great, but I wish Kevin weren’t constantly doing the job for people who made their names either away from wrestling or several decades ago. No way Paul drops that title before Mania, so expect Kev to have some kind of epic disaster spot that leads to Paul slumping over him for the pin.
Winner: Logan Paul
Jay: Logan Paul is going to take it. Owens doesn’t need the win and plus, Logan’s reign is just getting started. They are likely to do something with him at Mania and he is infuriatingly good at performing. I’d love to see him face Cena or LA Knight at Mania.
Winner: Logan Paul
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Shane: I’ve seen online that people are speculating that Roman Reigns might actually lose the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in this match. That he’s put in this match to lose without being pinned. That his match with The Rock doesn’t need the championship. To this I simply say, “are you stupid?!” I just hope it’s a little more exciting than the other Roman title defenses we’ve seen this past year.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Jason: When are we going to stop pretending that multi-man matches are a threat to established champions? Let’s call Tony Khan to pore through Cagematch to find when the last time a champion actually lost their belt in one of these matches. I guess this is a good showcase for three guys who were not going to win the Rumble, but the Tribal Chief’s reign is in absolutely no danger barring some kind of major injury mid match. I’m gonna guess AJ takes the pin, but part of me wants Roman to redo the finish from Mania 37, and stack all three guys up to pin them all at once.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Jay: In our tumultuous world, there are three constants: death, taxes, and Roman. Roman is 1000% taking this and this is just an attraction on the way to Mania.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Women’s Royal Rumble match
Shane: The last two years I’ve had Bayley pegged as a possible winner only to change my mind heading into making these predictions. This time, I think she might actually do it. She just seems like the right fit. The time is right. The storyline is there with Damage CTRL. The crowd wants to cheer her, they just need a reason to do so. I’ve been clamoring for a Bayley face turn for months and I think it’s finally time. Bayley for the win.
Winner: Bayley
Jason: Well of the legitimate contenders (that we know are in the match) Bianca doesn’t need a Rumble win to get a title match at Mania, neither does Becky, and I refuse to entertain the notion of a Nia Jax victory. That means, for the second time this week, I’m predicting a Bayley win in the Women’s Rumble. She deserves the accolade, and this could set up a fun match with IYO SKY and signal her ousting from Damage CTRL. If this comes to pass, I fully expect babyface Bayley (complete with her old theme) to win the belt at Mania too.
Winner: Bayley
Jay: Bayley makes the most sense. The matches for Mania are Becky/Rhea and Bayley/IYO or Bayley/IYO/Dakota. Becky has already won the Rumble and I can see her winning the Chamber in Australia to get that match, so that leaves Bayley who needs a ride to Mania.
Winner: Bayley
Men’s Royal Rumble match
Shane: This match is considerably more difficult to predict than the women’s match just because there are two very viable winners and just as many left field picks. Last week I would have said CM Punk would win to set up his main event match with Seth Rollins. But, since Seth’s injury, the planned match seems to be up in the air as to if it will actually happen. Punk could win the Elimination Chamber in February to set up the Mania match with Seth if WWE is happy with his recovery. With that said, Cody winning to set up another match with Roman feels like the safer bet since both are healthy at the moment and their rematch has a higher percentage to actually happen. On the other, other hand, CM Punk is CM Punk…
Winner: CM Punk
Jason: This is a fun year for Rumble speculation, because there are a lot of viable winners on the roster. Outside of the rumored debuts and returns (your Okadas, your Big Es, etc,), there are the obvious favorites of Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, this past week’s Raw made a compelling case for Gunther to win the match, and there’s the looming specter of one Samoan superstar who has eyes on the Head of the Table. But of all these guys, who is going to actually point at the big Mania sign as the fireworks rain down? Smart money is probably on Punk. He’s not gonna get the main event of night 2 at Mania this year, and I doubt he came back to WWE without some assurances, so letting him win the Rumble only for Cody to get his title shot via an Elimination Chamber or something, Gunther can defend his IC title against someone like Chad Gable, and Rock can devote his attention to his newfound position in TKO. I guess what I’m saying is, let the baby have his bottle.
Winner: CM Punk
Jay: This the most interesting Mania main event scene in recent memory. We have been able to accurately predict the Mania main event since WrestleMania 28 so it’s a great feeling to legitimately not know. I can’t see Cody winning it, but I can see either The Rock showing up or CM Punk winning it. This match is the first on-screen match for Punk since he left after Royal Rumble 2014 so the victory here writes itself. But then again, The Rock appearing would be a fantastic surprise and him winning would put Roman/Cody/Rock in a Randy Orton/Batista/Daniel Bryan WrestleMania 30 situation which would see Cody needing to find a way into the match. Plus it would leave Rock and Roman on the table for later. The easiest option is CM Punk. The most intriguing option is The Rock. Will it be Punk? Probably, but I’ll go with Rock just cause.
Winner: The Rock
